Salt Lake City firefighters prevented a commercial blaze from spreading to a nearby gas station early Sunday.
The fire broke out at about 4 a.m. at an abandoned commercial building in the 300 block of West 600 North, KTVX-TV reports. Two "unauthorized individuals" were in the building at the time of the fire, but they were able to escape and report to crews, the department told the TV station.
The blaze engulfing the building erupted next to a Chevron gas station. Icy conditions created a challenge for firefighters, but they were able to methodically battle the flames and stop them from spreading to the station, according to KTVX.
